When I tried to commit my source, I got these
messages below..

-------------------------------
Commit failed (details follow):
Illegal repository URL ''
-------------------------------

I tried 'clean up', 'relocate', and checked whether my repository URL is broken or not. Everything except commit works well, (ex. Update, repository browser via tortoise, ...) but commit does not work.

help me..ioi

Please post your URL as reported on the subversion properties tab for
the top folder you are trying to commit.

I'm experiencing the same problem since today. It has never been a problem, and browsing through the repository and something like a check-out from the same url source does not give any problems. I'm using the latest TortoiseSVN release for 64bit (and I have 32bit installed as well for a smooth context menu integration with e-text).

Read the reply! Tell us the URL you are having problems with.

I apologize. Its a Google Code hosted project.

https://compactcms.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/compactcms

It has been working ever since I started first using TortoiseSVN, but yesterday out of nowhere (so it seems) it started to give the error specified. I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted (both 32 and 64), but still without luck.

The properties screen shows the same url as given above. The error however appears strange, because literally it is saying:

--
Commit failed (details follow):
Illegal repository URL ''

Especially the empty '' seem odd. The commit screen does show the correct "commit to:" url.

Thanks.

open the check-for-modifications dialog on your working copy root. Then
show the URL column (right-click on the column header to get a menu for
additiional columns).
It could be that your working copy got corrupted and lost the target url.

Hi,

Thanks for answering, but unfortunately there seems nothing wrong there. The URL field is correct (both modifications window as well as commit window).

All the statuses seem to be correct. So any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Have you tried a fresh checkout?

* Export your existing working copy (TSVN->Export, or right-drag, then
select "SVN export to here")
* checkout new working copy
* copy your exported wc over the new checked out wc, overwriting all
existing files

Hi,

Thanks for the instructions. Apparantely my directory did get corrupted along the way, although I'm still not sure what could have caused this (e.g. I didn't move anything).

Another "downside", which might explain the fact that there was an error, is that the new directory only commited 140 files, while the previous directory stated there were 168. What ever the case it seems fixed now, for which I thank everyone who replied.

If you checkout to a new directory (I usually rename my current WC so I can use the same folder name) you can just then copy your changed/dirty files to the new WC.
