I would like to uninstall Tortoise completely, i.e. removing all related registry entries. I used the normal uninstall function and the CCleaner software afterwards, but there are still about a dozen Tortoise entries on my computer (and that does not include any entries which I couldn't find by searching manually for "Tortoise"). Does anyone know how to completely remove this software?
The reason for my question is as follows:
Tortoise doesn't seem to work with FreeCommander (a software which is just like the windows explorer, but better) if you install Tortoise first. I "installed" the FreeCommander first (i.e. unpacked it, since it doesn't have an installation routine) and then I installed Tortoise and everything works fine, but a colleague of mine had Tortoise installed for some years already (and always updated it) and now he installed FreeCommander, but he doesn't have any Tortoise entries in the context menue of FreeCommander.
Reinstalling Tortoise and registry cleaning didn't help.
We are both using FreeCommander 2009-02 and Tortoise 1.6.5.
Does anyone know either how to let FreeCommander know of the updated context menue or how to completely remove Tortoise?
Kind Regards,
Alexander

To clean up the registry try this tool:

I had this problem a couple of times now and I've been too busy to flag it up. I was editing some files and then did the usual update before committing. There were conflict that needed resolving. Upon resolving the first conflict I selected the 'resolved' option from the context menu and clicked OK. Just as I did I noticed that the filename was '.cpp' and NOT 'fileXXX.cpp'. This resolution killed the explorer window being used and rendered the WC totally unusable at and below the point of the conflict issue. I had to remove the .svn folder in the working folder and all those below it and then re-checkout the files. Thankfully this preserves edits, but it was a pain resolving the second conflict as the flag for the conflict is lost.
Is this a know behaviour.
I did have VS2008 open with the AnkhSVN plug-in if that could be a contributing factor!!
Any ideas welcome!

Did you make sure you have the right version of TortoiseSVN? If your friend is using a 64-bit OS and installed the 64-bit version of Tortoise, but FreeCommander is a 32-bit process (I don't know, just wondering), this might be why it doesn't show up.
If your friend is using a 64-bit OS, tell him to try installing the 32-bit version of TortoiseSVN to see if it helps. There is no harm in installing both on the same computer.

He didn't have time to try ClearInstall yet, so I can't say if this solution works.
