Commit failed while preparing...transaction

committing changes (additions and modifications) to a project fails with
the error message shown in the appendix.
The repository is hosted on a Windows Server 2003 R2 64 Bit, SubVersion
V1.6.5. Client is XP pro SP3, TortoiseSVN V1.6.6 32 Bit.
There have been many successful commits on the project in the past. On
Server side, svnadmin recover does not help, neither does svnadmin rmtxns.
The directory 'C:\Repository.svn\informeon\db\transactions' is empty.

Because it's not a corrupt repository. Look in the repository browser;
do you already have an item named FH_CP1484 in your project and you're
adding a new one from your working copy?

Right, thank you, Andy. The subdirectory FH_CP1484 was marked
unversioned in the working copy, so I added it. But it was in the repo.
I don't see how it became unversioned ( I updated the project before
committing), but that's a different battleplace and a fresh checkout is
always a good thing ;)<br>
