Can Tortoisegit still be used with MsysGit ?

A week or so ago I upgraded from an old version of TortoiseGit to the
latest version. This required me to update Git itself (my previous
version was using MsysGit but I was advised to update that and use Git
for Windows v2.16.2).

Overall, Git itself still seems to be working okay - but I've hit a snag
when building some of my programs... I'm seeing lots of errors now
along these lines:-

'cmp' is not recognized as an internal or external command
'cp' is not recognized as an internal or external command
'rm' is not recognized as an internal or external command

I'm assuming those commands were previously getting provided by
MsysGit? So is there any way to get them back? (i.e. and still stay
with Git for Windows)

Or is there any version of MsysGit that'd still work with TortoiseGit?
Thanks,

John

Those tools are still shipped with Git for Windows, see "C:\Program
Files\Git\usr\bin". IIRC this directory is automatically added to PATH
if Git Bash is used.

MSysGit is badly broken, its development has ended.

You're right, Sven. I've now added "C:\Program Files\Git\usr\bin" to my
standard Windows path (so I'll be able to reference it in a standard
Windows program, as well as Git Bash). Thanks,

John
