Yesterday I updated from an old version of TortoiseGit to the latest version (2.6.0) and at the same time I upgraded Git for Windows to version 2.16.2. I've noticed something a bit strange. If I try to use "git branch" from a Windows command prompt, I see this output:- "WARNING: terminal is not fully functional - (press RETURN)" And if I do press RETURN the command seems to complete normally.

Other commands don't seem to be affected - for example "git status" doesn't give me any warning message. Any idea what might be wrong..?

I just realised that TortoiseGit seems to offer its own Windows Command Prompt ("Git CMD").  However, that one displays exactly the same message ("WARNING: terminal is not fully functional - (press RETURN)"). Does anyone have any ideas how I can stop this?.

"Git CMD" is not offered by TortoiseGit but Git for Windows - try to
reinstall it (the latest version).
