Same here but on trying to commit. do you have a .gitignore file in the
repo?
i have same problem. Show log crashes even with empty repository.
I get the crash with old 1.6 version of Tortoise Git.
Command like git log works fine.
I tried with empty repository and still crash.
For me it crashes with older versions of tortoise.
Git version is 1.7.6.msysgit.0
Windows 7
Yes, I've attached my .gitignore file.
I can view the log data fine with GIT GUI that comes with the Windows GIT
installation.

I too am getting this problem now on a particular repository - running the
nightly build of 2011-09-01. I've attached a stack dump, please let me
know if there's any more information that would be useful.

In my case it seems this issue was caused by having push.default = upstream
in my config...

Thanks for your latest comment on this issue. But this might be a different
issue. That's why I opened a new issue 908, which is fixed now.
