Hello everyone,

I'm not sure that this topic is quite in line with the desired content
of the posts, but I don't know where else to go, so please forgive me
if it's not!

I'm looking for someone who could advise and help me set up a wiki for
my PhD thesis. I know there are a lot of wikis I could set up myself,
but I have a lot of requirements (e.g., a wiki whose content is both
online and on my Mac and that synchronizes the two, functions to
handle references, different levels of access rights, etc.) and I just
can't figure out what I should do by reading online wiki
documentation.

If you would like to take on this smallish contract or know someone
who would, please contact me at lysanne...@gmail.com

Thanks,
Lysanne

Hi Lysanne

- socialtext does that (online and offline versions which sync)

hmm does social text have a free version? can't recall.

feel free to try and squeeze some free help out of the list. :) Not
sure you need a wiki install of your own from what you've described
sofar.

unless of course you have some lovely $$ budget you want to share.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the pointer! Unfortunately, Socialtext is for enterprises, so their prices start at 50 users minimum. A bit overboard for me and my supervisor :-) But someone on the list has offered help, so I'll enquire there.

Cheers,
Lysanne

Excellent

socialtext does have an "open source" version - though i have not tried it.

What package are you going to use?
