Dear all,
A reminder about tonight's Toronto Wiki Tuesday meetup!
Please RSVP: Semantic Wikis at AutoDesk
1) Topic: if you've ever thought about how to structure content on a wiki you'll have realised there is a progression towards smaller, and increasingly meaningful units of text for each topic content, highly intentional page names, and careful phrasing around links. This makes your content closer to a knowledge base, easier to search and easier to maintain.
Semantics is the study of meaning. So, Semantic Wikis emphasize functionality for highly meaningful content, links and search. Michiel, tonight's speaker - and a regular at TWT - will tell us how his company has overcome the special challenges of implementing and getting adoption for his semantic wiki, based on MediaWiki, and the benefits they are now reaping.
2) Location: We are in a new (awesome!) location - on King Street East past George Brown College. Be sure to allow extra time to get there! If you are late you'll need to call me to get in: 416-786-6752.
3) Food: because we are in an office location, but there are three take out places near by. Please arrive by 6:30, buy and bring food up.
4) Waiting list: A special message to those were put on or put off by the "Waiting List". This is now gone, and your RSVP should have been confirmed. Let me know - 416-786-6752 if it has not. (Thanks for your note, Gary!)
5) Timing: Next month, like this month, TWT will be in the 3rd week of the month rather than the first. I know this messes with some people's diary's, but on a brighter note, it may also allow some to attend that usually can't.
