Accelerating TransitCamp

I am pleased to announce some big plans for TransitCamp in 2008. We
are planning the next event in March, the first of a series of events
plus an online community space that will continue through at least
September. This project is being undertaken in coordination with
Metrolinx (Greater Toronto Transportation Authority) while they work
on public consultations and the development of their Regional
Transportation Plan in 2008. This plan will help guide over $17
billion in infrastructure and outline a vision of a possible future of
efficient, sustainable and user-friendly mobility across the region.

We have an opportunity to influence real change in the transit and
transportation infrastructure of the region, and we're really excited
to be given a strong vote of confidence by Metrolinx in the
possibilities the TransitCamp community can bring.

This Google Group will be the first focal point of activity, as we
make plans for the first event and discuss how we want to work
together over the next several months. We are looking to reach out to
people across the GTA and Hamilton beyond Toronto, so I would invite
you to tell your friends and family who might be interested.

Any ideas, thoughts, hopes, wish lists? Start the discussion! This
group is about to get a whole lot more active.
