I have heard that keeping your plants smaller is better for yield
because the lower parts of the plant get shaded. So its better I guess
to have more light exposed to the top of the plant. Any truth in any
of this?

Actually no, my info says grow smaller for faster or more harvests per
year not higher yield..by using less veg time and going into bud
sooner..do more plants [ which yield less] { or great for cloning or
people doing crops for street sale..more 5 to 6 cycles a year to 3 to
4 cycles with biggies }...by vegging longer and creating bigger busher
plants you increase yield..[yes the lower level buds can get less
light exposure but nothing an experienced grower can't manage with a
little strategic placement.] by increasing the plants nodes=buds
etc...well veg'd plants should yield 2-4 oz/ plant...[ smaller only
3/4-1 oz/ plant] ( all numbers 1000W set up) THEREFORE the more
smaller plants you create ALOT more work] and of course you have to
have fewer big girls...etc...I personally do the latter...veg longer
etc..it is much better yielder esp if a sativa lover..longer bloom....

I have 4 plants in veg right now. This strain is skunk 69. My plants
are about 6-7 inches tall & have been in a hydroponic setup in a 20
basket trinkle system with 20 gallon res.
My grow room is 8X6X6 I am running 2 X 1000W Super HPS Sunmaster Bulb
with Air Cool Cylinder Reflector 24" plus

Inline Fan (Vortex) 6" 449CFM. I will be running this setup for bloom.
How big should I grow my four plants in the size of my grow area..
Temps are good. What kind of buckets should I use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been growing Chronic in Sea of Green for about a year now. I
grow 50 plants under 2 1000 W HPS in a 4 step grow. As this strain
takes about 8 weeks to finish I get a harvest every 2 weeks. App. 1/4
lb. per harvest. I am growing in pro-mix and following Marks methods
as set out on this site. I might be able to get more if I grew taller
plants but this seems to keep me supplied. The plants average 2 ft.
tall at harvest. Good Luck and keep on smoking!

That sounds like a very low yield. Only 4 ounces off 50 plants? I am
only growing 4 but I think ill bloom them at around 1.5 feet.

I keep temps between 25 & 30 c. Cool air from outside in winter( air
exchanger) & AC in summer. Before I put in the AC I did have trouble
with high temps.

Ya temps are a pain. Summer is much much worse though. I dread that.

Well with an AC unit in the window and a dehumidifier things are kept
under control, just more elect. on the bill.

Ya I think I will need an ac or might use a ton of co2. My basement
last summer reached in the low 90's C Humidity was around very
bad. I had 14 plants going under 1000 watt with umbrella top that
traps all the damn heat. I got rid of mine. Anyways my space was
barely 4X4X6
Very early on in bloom half of my fan leaves had burned off. Come the
end of bloom I was shocked that they all lived. No fan leaves left &
the bud was like orange color.
I got 6 ounces lol. I have basically changed my whole grow area now &
thing are ok, summer will be the big test.

Ywah I know what you mean. I got a dehmidifier at a yard sale for
$30.00 and that took care of my humidity problems. I have it running
24/7 though. With that and AC it took care of the problems, basically
what you are dercribing. Good luck with it.
