Hello TUGgers,

Please share this with your networks.

Do you live in a neighborhood in Toronto or York Region that has an urban farm or a community garden? If yes, we would like to hear from you.

We invite you to participate in Seneca Polytechnic’s research study on the impact of urban farms and community gardens on your neighborhood. Our partners for this research include the University of Toronto, Toronto Urban Growers (TUG) and York Region Food Network (YRFN). We would like to hear from diverse community members.

This research study entitled Impact of Socio-economic and Policy Factors on and Peri-urban Agriculture (UPA) will help us a) gain a deeper understanding of the different factors that can support or limit local food production initiatives, and b) develop recommendations on building sustainable and equitable urban farming and community gardening practices across neighborhoods in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

You have the option to share your experiences by participating in either a 20-minute online survey or a 60–90-minute focus group (virtual or in-person). Focus group participants will receive an honorarium in appreciation of their time. Please note that all participants in this research study are required to be at least 18 years old.

If you are interested in signing up or would like more information, please fill out this form:

This research study has been reviewed and received clearance through the Seneca Research Ethics Board. If you have any questions about this process or about your rights as a participant in the study, contact Seneca’s Research Ethics Board at r...@senecapolytechnic.ca.

We appreciate your time and encourage you to share this opportunity with others in your network.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Project Research Team
