Note: this funding is for nature-based activities, but they do give food forests as an example.

Park People is excited to announce a new funding opportunity: the Park People Nature Connect Fund. With generous support from the Waltons Trust, we’re expanding our support for park organizations across Canada, helping communities connect with nature, advance equitable access to parks, and build more resilient urban environments.

The fund offers support at two levels: an emerging stream and a scaling stream (for larger initiatives, launching at a later date). Today, we are launching the emerging stream, which offers organizations up to $5,000 to bring their park project to life in 2026.

Eligible projects must foster ecological stewardship and restore urban parks and greenspaces, including nature-based activities, hands-on ecological stewardship, restoration and other forms of land care.

They must be located in one of the following 9 cities:
  • Victoria
  • Vancouver
  • Calgary
  • Edmonton
  • Saskatoon
  • Winnipeg
  • Toronto (Toronto, York, East York, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke)
  • Greater Montreal
  • Halifax

Visit our website to learn about eligibility, application process, timeline, and more. Be sure to submit your application by Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

For instructions on how to create an account through our new granting system, please consult the FAQ on our website under 'How to create an account on Blackbaud and apply'. If you need any assistance with your application, feel free to reach out to Sarah Munro at nature...@parkpeople.ca.

We look forward to learning more about your park projects!
