Community Gardens Survey for PhD Research

Hi everyone,

My name is Justyn Mahanger, and I am a PhD researcher, with York University, exploring the role of community gardens in strengthening local food systems in Ontario, and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.

My work examines how these spaces contribute not only to food security and sustainability, but also to community empowerment, cultural expression, and social justice. Through a blend of qualitative and participatory research methods, I aim to highlight the voices and experiences of diverse gardeners and stakeholders, and to inform policies that support more inclusive and resilient urban food networks.
