Are you an equity-deserving farmer who has accessed a grant, loan, insurance program, or public land rental for your agricultural operation?
If so, the NFU-O is looking for you! The NFU-O is searching for three Farm Finance Mentors to join an exciting project, “Pollinating Diversity: Overcoming Financial Barriers for Underrepresented Farmers” This project focuses on supporting equity-deserving and underrepresented farmers to navigate applications for grants, loans, insurance programs, and public land rentals. NFU-O is looking for equity-deserving farmers (women, Indigenous Peoples, people with disabilities, people who are part of 2SLGBTQI+ communities, religious minority groups and racialized people) with experience in accessing these kinds of opportunities to help provide mentorship to other equity-deserving farmers through workshops and one-on-one support to share information about the application process, offer tips and tricks, and outline how a successful application could support their farm operation. Workshops and mentorship will take place in the Fall/ Winter of 2025 and again in the Fall/ Winter of 2026. The expected time commitment will be a maximum of 20 hours per month each year between November-March, with a monthly stipend of $500 for your time and expertise.
