Not Far From The Tree is recruiting volunteer Pick Leaders!

There is a LOT of edible fruit in Toronto - so much that we are looking for more Pick Leaders to help us with the harvest this season!

Are you passionate about reducing food waste and connecting with local food sources? Have you been attending fruit picks and can’t get enough?  Do you enjoy facilitating groups of people? Being a Pick Leader might be up your alley! 

A Pick Leader is responsible for scheduling, planning, and facilitating urban fruit picks in Toronto backyards, bringing the provided picking equipment and delivering fruit donations to community agencies after the pick. You can lead a few picks, or a few dozen - all scheduled based on your own availability and interest. You will receive all the training you need - about fruit trees, harvesting methods, pests & disease, and more. You’ll also join an active community of passionate and supportive Pick Leaders who are always happy to share their knowledge, experience, or a helping hand.
