Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out on behalf of ACSA and our Chester Le Community Garden — a long-standing green space in Scarborough that has been a hub for food growing, connection, and community resilience for over a decade.
In 2022, the City of Toronto promised to reconstruct the garden through capital improvements — fixing unsafe pathways, resizing garden plots, and upgrading the infrastructure. Since then, the work has been repeatedly delayed with little communication or accountability. Despite multiple confirmations that the project would move forward, no work has been done.
This garden serves a community with limited access to green space and fresh food. Many of our gardeners are seniors, newcomers, and low-income families who rely on this space to grow culturally relevant food, build relationships, and support their mental and physical health.
We’ve launched a petition to collect signatures and stories - that we will be sending to the City to push for this change.
