Hi all,

Wanted to share two work exchange opportunities at Crooked Farmz to trade effort at the farm for one of our summer compost tea CSA subscriptions to feed your gardens and growing spaces.

Join others to learn about what we do and why, get outside for some fresh air, and put your hands and feet on the ground at a real working farm without leaving the city. Both events take place on the the Crooked Farmz plot at Many Hands Urban Farm, 160 Downsview Park Blvd., Toronto.

Work is not separate from learning — it is the oldest form of it. The worker bee is a Crooked Farmz tradition: a structured work-exchange session in which participants contribute hands-on labour to the farm and receive a compost tea CSA subscription in return. Three hours of shared work, exchanged for a season of living soil.

In this Summer Field School session, we will work together across the full range of Crooked Farmz operations — sowing, mulching, weeding, tidying, and composting — moving through the CRAY@Downsview growing spaces with purpose and company. Participants will receive a guided orientation to the different working spaces on site: the Flexible Infill farm, the Lunar Garden, the Johnson-Su bioreactors, and the food forest guild. Light refreshments will be provided.

Each participant exchanges 3 hours of labour for a small compost tea CSA subscription (retail value $95), receiving their first 2 jars of freshly-brewed Crooked Farmz compost tea on the day. July, August, and September issues are available for pickup at one of 7 locations across the city. Spots are limited.

Warmest wishes,
Sean
