| From Soil to Soul: Join the Black Farmers Tour
The Black Food Sovereignty Alliance invites you to spend a day connecting with Black farmers across Toronto. This in-person tour will take you to three farms in North York where you’ll meet growers, learn about their practices, and have the chance to purchase fresh, local produce.
Farms we’ll be visiting: Highlights of the Day: A presentation by Jennifer Cassimy, MSW, RSW (Manager, Mental Health Support Services at CAFCAN) on the connections between food insecurity, mental health, and why Black Food Sovereignty is essential to resilience and long-term community well-being.
A delicious meal catered by Chef Bashir Munye, Somali-Canadian chef and food educator known for promoting African and global cuisines while advocating for sustainable, culturally-rooted food systems.
A coffee ritual led by Naza Hasebenebi, owner of Chick Peas Veg, celebrating Pan-African customs and traditions.
Free transportation provided with pick-up spots in Scarborough and North York.
