This field day is open to everyone, not just growers! If you are interested in local food systems, gardening, market gardening or even just passionate about community building - feel free to attend. There may be carpool options.
If you are interested in free beginner grower workshops that are at a transit accessible location, we have a number of workshops that are happening this summer and into the fall.
At our Woodbine Racetrack programming location in Rexdale we have a blooming pollinator strip which includes edible berries.
Workshop attendee's are welcome to eat the currants, raspberries, wild strawberries, blackberries, gooseberries and grapes that are woven into the landscape.
The sweet cherry harvest this year was reduced due to the early onset of heat. However, we are glad we still got a crop. In the photo here you can see Kwame (the Assistant Orchadist) and Nico (a Commons member) harvesting cherries.
