Community Farm Program Coordinator

Flemo Farm is a Community Engagement and Entrepreneurial Development (CEED) project that has transformed a 1/2 acre of grass within the Flemingdon Park hydro corridor into an urban farm. Local residents (Community Farmers) are operating micro-farm businesses and FoodShare staff are growing produce that is donated to community members facing food insecurity or sold to community. This position involves supervising, collaborating with, and training Community Farmers during the growing season; designing, collaborating on, and implementing workplans; overseeing farm development and operations; and supporting events in close collaboration with the Flemo Farm Community Engagement coordinator and Flemingdon Health Centre. This position also oversees a ¼ acre communal plot portion of the farm that is managed by FoodShare and is a space that engages local volunteers, visitors, and Community Farmers.

Salary: $56,000/year for 37.5 hours/week*

Benefits: Extended health and dental benefits with no waiting period; matching RRSP or TFSA contributions after successful completion of probation period; 4 weeks paid vacation, 1-2 week paid winter shutdown per year; daily lunch stipend, monthly cell phone and internet reimbursement available depending on work location; 20 paid sick/wellness days per year; 10 paid personal days; annual professional development funding*

Contract Type: Full-time, indefinite

Reports to: Community Food Growing Senior Manager

Supervise: Miziwe Biik job training staff, Seasonal Youth hired through Canada Summer Jobs and Focus on Youth students

Location: Flemo Farm, 150 Grenoble Drive, North York
