[PHNO-sb] GLYDEL MERCADO'S TRIUMPHANT RETURN

Manila, Feb. 23, 1999 - The new toast of tinseltown is Glydel Mercado, whose
sizzling scenes with Albert Martinez in the Nora Aunor starrer SIDHI have
pushed her into the magic circle of box office winners.
Mario Hernando writes in the Manila Times that Glydel is now concentrating
on more serious stuff than romantic relationships. Denying the rumor that
she's going stead with actor Gary Estrada, Glydel stressed that she is
putting affairs of the heart in the back burner because she'd rather bury
her head in work to pay off a house and lot she has recently acquired.
Surprisingly, she admits that she's been going steady for a year with actor
Tonton Gutierrez, son of actress Liza Lorena and Eddie Gutierrez.
"Tonton is the most understanding guy I have ever met, and it is not true
that we had split up because of my nude scene in SIDHI," she said. "We could
get married if we want to, but I have just resumed my career after being
forced to rest by a ban."
Glydel was referring to a show business ban imposed on her after she
complained that act or Chuck Perez took advantage of her during scenes in a
movie they were making. Ironically, her career is zooming while Chuck Perez
is apparently in showbiz limbo.
Putting all that behind her, Glydel says she harbors no ill feelings against
Chuck and the people who decided to impose a ban on her.
She is in a film with Da King of Philippine movies Fernando Poe Jr.,
entitled DUGONG BUSABOS. After that, she's making MISTER MO LOVER KO.
