[PHNO-sb] CHARLENE'S MOM SUED FOR CONCUBINAGE BY MRS. PEPITO VERA PEREZ

Quezon City, May 5, 1999 - Former Quezon City Councilor Jose "Pepito" Vera
Perez and his alleged live-in lover, Elvira Gonzalez, are being sued for
concubinage by Mrs. Bernadette Vera Perez, mother of actor Lander Vera Perez.
Ms. Gonzalez is the mother of actress and former Bb. Pilipinas Charlene
Gonzalez.
In her complaint before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office, Mrs. Vera Perez
said she filed the case after verifying through an agency, Truth Verifier
System, Inc., that her husband, a member of the prominent family which owns
Sampaguita Pictures, is living with Gonzalez at Unit 7, Carmel Townhomes,
New Manila, Quezon City.
The investigation by Truth Verifier System, Inc. also revealed that Gonzalez
has been using Jose's
white Nissan Patrol van, gray Toyota Lite Ace and dark gray Mazda.
Mrs Vera Perez said she began to suspect the alleged affair of her husband
with Gonzalez in April 1992 after the two arrived from the United States
along with Charlene.
She said her suspicion was confirmed when Charlene won the 1995 Binibining
Pilipinas Pageant and she publicly thanked her stepfather, Jose, for his
support. It was then that Mrs Vera Perez sought the help of the agency.
She said she and Jose were married in civil rites on March 13, 1972. They
married at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Cubao four days later.
Ms. Elvira Gonzalez, however, denied having a relationship with Jose. She
said he is simply Charlene's business manager, which accounts, she said, for
the frequent meetings between her and her co-accused.
Charlene is the daughter of Ms. Gonzalez and actor Bernard Bonnin. Lander is
the son of Mrs. Vera Perez and the former Quezon City Councilor.
