BAGUIO CITY, March 09 (PNA) - Joe Boy D. Kindipan, the second to the
last child of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Kindipan of Cudog, Lagawe, Ifugao, is
this year's number one graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA)
class 1998.

The graduation scheduled on March 15, 1998 will be attended by the
President Fidel V. Ramos, who is also the guest of honor and speaker.

Kindipan who turned 26 last January 30, will be awarded the Silver
medal of academic excellence-magna cum laude for obtaining an overall
grade point average of 9.29 and the Presidential saber award for
graduation No. 1 and the Philippne Army saber for being the most senior
cadet to join the Philippine Army. Before coming to PMA, Kindipan
studied at the University of the Philippines Baguio where he took up
Bachelor of Science in mathematics.

Aside from Kindipan, other cadets who made it to the top ten included
three female cadets and these are: Carlo Magno T. Hizon from Alaminos,
Pangasinan; Garnett Arvin C. De Velez from Pasig City; Willester S.
Robles Cabanatuan City; Marife T. Ibarra, Tagbilaran city; Alex G.
Recinto, Lipa city; John A. Barrameda, Cagayan de Oro; Erano M.
Callanta, Mangaldan, Pangasinan; Benedict A. Bodegon, Binan, Laguna and
Zarni D. Magallanes, Davao del Norte.

Meanwhile, the class baron, cadet captain Ronaldo Valdez, will
receive the chief of staff saber from AFP chief of Staff, General
Clemente P, Mariano and the bronze medal for Academic excellence-cum
laude for obtaining an overall grade point average of 8.87.

Also expected to share the limelight with the graduating class is
this year's class goat, cadet Paulman Sadat H. Tamano from Cotabato
city. A total of 162 cadets will be commissioned this year with 76 new
lieutenants joining the Army, 40 going to the Air Force and 46 new
ensigns for the Philippine Navy.

PMA Superintendent, Major General Victor A. Mayo together with other
high ranking military and government officials will join the president
