Quezon City, May 11, 1999 - The on-again, off-again Angelu de Leon live-in
arrangement of former top box office star Angelu de Leon and actor Joko Diaz
appears to be on again, but with a storm lurking overhead.
In a recent interview while promoting his movie "Talahib at Rosas"
co-starring Maricel Morales, Joko said he believes Angelu loves him enough
to stick by him even without any prospect of marriage. This love, plus the
bond created by their daughter Nicole, are what Joko pins his hopes on with
regards to the staying power of their relationship.
Another stormy issue threatens their arrangement, however: the bold role
that Angelu has committed to for her comeback movie with Viva Films.
In the interview, Joko categorically stated that he is against Angelu's
resumption of her show business career.
"If I had my way, Angelu will quit the movies permanently. I would like her
to stay at home and look after our kid. Show business would only create more
problems for us," Joko said.
But Angelu is dead set on returning to the screen, and via a sexy role at that.
In a Mother's Day TV interview, Angelu said having a baby out of wedlock
definitely disqualifies her from sweetie-sweetie roles she had played in the
past.
Fans of Angelu are now keenly watching once she starts shooting the bold
Viva movie. Will her romance with Joko then be off again? Or will she change
her mind at the very last minute and consent to Joko's desire that she be a
nothing more than a stay-at-home mother without benefit of marriage?
