Pasig City, April 1, 1999 - Singer-actress Teresa Loyzaga has won custody of
her child by her former husband, Arnold Dizon. The Pasig Regional Trial
Court ruled that 10-year-old Charles Joseph should stay weekdays with Teresa
and spend Saturdays and Sundays with his father.
In his one page decision, Judge Pablito Rojas ordered Teresa and Arnold to
give equal support of P7,500 a month each to their son.
The custody battle was initiated by Dizon, who told the court that he had
been deprived of visitation rights to his son for the last 8 months, after
Teresa disregarded a previous custody arrangement.
Dizon had asked for full custody of his son, arguing that Teresa could not
be a good mother because of her extra-marital affairs, mainly with actor
Cesar Montano, father of Teresa's son Diego.
Teresa and Arnold sought an annulment in 1995. At that time, both admitted
to "psychological incapacity," with Teresa also claiming that her husband
suffered from "chronic, inappropriate clinging to his parents."
