Quezon City, Sept. 20, 1999 Undoubtedly the most sought-after leading man in
sex-oriented pictures is presidential nephew Gary Estrada, whose handsome face
and exciting body will grace hundreds of movie screens in the coming days.
Regal's "Gamugamong Dagat" opens this week starring Gary as love interest to
Klaudia Koronel. And in the weeks to come, expect Gary to romance more sex
symbols on the big screen.
Says his manager, Dondon Monteverde, "Gary Estrada's the busiest among my
stable of actors. Seems all producers and directors want him cast in their
projects."
Although typecast in bold roles, Gary managed to snag an award (best
supporting
actor) in the last Manila Film Festival, for "Mister Mo, Lover Ko" opposite
Glydel Mercado.
In "Gamugamong Dagat," Gary plays a Fil-American seaman in love with a
prostitute (Klaudia) who plies her trade aboard ships while the vessels are
docked on the bay. "Akyat-barko" such hookers are called.
Gary gets his mestizo features from his mother, an American mestiza, the
former
starlet Agnes Moran. His father, of course, was the late award-winning actor
George Estregan, also a bold actor in his day.
In "Sutla," Gary is the childhood sweetheart of Priscilla but is seduced by
her
elder sister (played by Samantha Lopez), who he ends up marrying. Gary was
shocked by the baring and daring scenes of Priscilla.
"The most uninhibited actress I've been paired with," he says.
Gary, now 27, Gary was built up by Viva as a matinee idol and paired with
Donita Rose (an ex-love), Dawn Zulueta, Dina Bonnevie, Michelle Aldana,
Monique
Wilson, Sheryl Cruz, Charlene Gonzalez, among others.
Co-starring with Gary and Klaudia in "Gamugamong Dagat" are Tonton Gutierrez,
Leandro Baldemor, and Yda Manzano. Directed by Tata Esteban based on the
script
by Arnold Martinez.
