Hi Everyone,

Regina's e-mail, along with a description of everything they need help with, is below.

Thanks,

Hi Wojciech:

Thanks for offering to send these to the programmer/tech mailing lists that you are on.

It is a volunteer opportunity but the workload is shared and much lightened if we can get a team of up to 4 programmers working together on this. At any rate, our erstwhile Head of Programming has gone about halfway with the coding he was doing and can share all that to give the new team a running start.

The volunteer opportunity starts on 3 Jan 2010 at the latest as time is marching on and given that the pixel reveal is at the heart of our campaign, the programmers are playing an extremely important role!

Thanks!

Cheers,
R

--------------------

The Pixel Project (http://www.thepixelproject.net), an innovative global Web 2.0 campaign to end Violence Against Women is looking for 2 to 4 experienced, creative and fast-working software programmers to join us our global virtual volunteer team.

Job Description:

1) Design the programme for a pixel-by-pixel reveal of a hidden online picture - this is at the core of our online fundraising gambit.

2) Link the pixel reveal programme with our online payment system to automate the pixel reveal.

3) Advise on the reveal strategy and what's the best and most elegant way to showcase the pixels being bought etc.

4) Be able to identify and to programme/build anything else the project requires online including automating any key processes etc.

We are looking for software programmers who would be able to:

1) Put in at 5 or more hours per week volunteering on this as part of a team
2) Start volunteering from 3 Jan 2010 onwards
3) Able to deliver the main programme by 28 Feb 2010
4) Stay on through the pixel unveiling to trouble shoot any problems - the project is slated to end before October 2010.
5) Comfortable working as part of a virtual team with a keen interest in Web 2.0
6) Would like to be a part of a groundbreaking global Violence Against Women cause that is partnered with UNIFEM's "Say NO" campaign and White Ribbon.

We would be happy to:

a) Provide references for individual volunteers putting in good work

b) If it is part of their internship module, we'd be happy to fill in assessment sheets too. We have been incorporated as a non-profit organisation and are currently well on our way to 501 (c) 3 status.

c) If the team is part of a company providing this as a pro bono service to us, we're happy to name them as a partner and give them due brand recognition on our website.

All hours spent on the project will also count as 'actions' (1 hour = 1 'action') on UNIFEM's global 'Say NO - UNiTE' campaign website (http://www.saynotoviolence.org).

If you know anybody you can refer to us, The Pixel Project team would be very grateful if you could refer them to us.

If you could forward this to appropriate mailing lists, we would be grateful also.

If you wish to know more about us, please visit us at http://www.thepixelproject.net.

Thank you for your kind attention!

With best regards,
Regina
