Dear Robert ,
With your support, Vision Vancouver has always fought for better City
services, improved access to crucial community programs, and urgently-needed
investments in real Vancouver priorities such as affordable housing, child
care, and better transit.

The proposed 2014 Budget once again delivers on these key commitments, and
emphasizes our relentless work to bring a new level of business discipline
to City Hall. On Tuesday night we heard more input at a Special Council
meeting, and I hope you'll take a look and spread the word:

It's a budget that keeps taxes low and provides Vancouver residents with
better services than ever before, with over 292 city service metrics showing
that it's been a record year for in-person library visits (6.2 million),
pool visits (2.8 million), learn-to-swim enrolments, and rink visits.

The 2014 Capital Plan will also see $72 million invested in better
transportation, $19 million for parks and green space, and $17 million for
new affordable housing.

We've certainly come a long way over the last 5 years. When our Vision
Vancouver team was first elected in late 2008, the NPA had left behind a
record of staggering debt, weakened city services, and crippling City-wide
disputes with labour.

It hasn't always been easy and we have much more work to do, but your ideas
and energy are helping to build a city that is taking care of the services
that people rely on. Over 1000 residents have already helped shape the
proposed budget with their input, and I hope you'll email me or be in touch
if you have a suggestion of your own.

Thanks for everything you do,

Raymond Louie
