Mike Anscombe is outa Global... Tor. Star had an article a few weeks back
saying he and another newsreader (Jane Gilbert?) were basically canned,
and someone from CFTO/BBS was moving into Global.

The departure 'tis a shame... the guy was on there since about the
beginning of Global in the mid-70s, starting off as their main
sportscaster. However, there are strange things afoot with the general
state of the broadcasting industry.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of Mike Anscombe(I think thats how you
spell it). For the last two weeks he has not been on the noon or 5 o'clock
newscasts.

He is not mentioned in the opening credits as they still did when Bob
Mcadory was off for a long time(head injury). They have hired another
newsreader for the 5 o'clock news. Mike was with Global a long time if in
fact he has left.

That's too bad. I liked Anscombe, he didn't take himself too seriously.

On the other hand (I don't watch the news that much) did they finally get

Take a look at Frank, Canada's magazine for dirt. It is published
every two weeks, and you should find it in most large newstands or
bookstores outside of the major cities.
