Position: Senior Product Owner

Location: Pleasanton, CA (Onsite) – Need locals ONLY

Duration: 6+ months contract

Job Description:   

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess five (5) years of experience working within a large, matrixed organization, with a strong understanding of the IT landscape and end-to-end product delivery processes.
  • Have five (5) years of experience working in an Agile environment, collaborating closely with Scrum teams, stakeholders, and business partners to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Hold one or more relevant Agile certifications such as SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or equivalent certification from Scrum Alliance or Scrum.org.

 

Experience and Responsibilities:

The Candidate shall demonstrate strong Product Owner experience, particularly in the following areas:

  • Act as the voice of the customer by clearly defining and communicating product vision, goals, and priorities.
  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring work items are well-defined, prioritized, and aligned with business value and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, customers, and leadership to gather requirements, refine scope, and manage expectations.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize backlog items based on value, risk, dependencies, and delivery capacity.
  • Participate actively in Iteration Planning, Team Demos, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives to ensure alignment and value realization.
  • Provide clarity to the development team on requirements, priorities, and scope throughout the iteration.
  • Make timely decisions to keep delivery progressing and remove ambiguity related to product requirements.
  • Partner closely with the Scrum Master and Agile team to support effective execution and continuous improvement.
  • Review and accept completed work to ensure it meets defined acceptance criteria and quality standards.
  • Support roadmap planning, release planning, and incremental delivery of product features.
  • Coordinate with other Product Owners and Agile teams to manage dependencies and align across programs.
  • Use Agile metrics, customer feedback, and data-driven insights to continuously refine product direction.
  • Maintain product artifacts in tools such as Jira and Confluence, ensuring transparency and traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with established standards for documentation, quality, and governance where applicable.

 

 

 

Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field is required.
