Position: Mainframe Developer
location: Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite)

Duration: 8+ months

 

Description:

 

 

Role Descriptions: A Mainframe Developer designs| codes| tests| and maintains high-performance software applications on large-scale IBM systems| primarily using COBOL| JCL| and DB2. They ensure system reliability| troubleshoot technical issues| and upgrade systems to meet business requirements in sectors like banking and insurance. hrblade.comhrblade.com 2

 

Key Responsibilities: Application Development Writing| debugging| and testing code (COBOL| CICS| PLI) for mainframe applications. System Maintenance Modifying existing programs to fix issues or improve performance. Batch Processing Developing and scheduling Job Control Language (JCL) for batch jobs. Database Management Working with DB2 or IMS databases to manage data. Documentation Creating technical documentation| functional specifications| and user manuals. Collaboration Working with business analysts and QA teams to implement new system features. hrblade.comhrblade.com 5

 

Required Skills and Qualifications: Languages Strong knowledge of COBOL| JCL| DB2| and SQL. Tools Experience with tools such as CICS| IBM ZOS| and debugging tools (e.g.| Xpediter).

 

Technical Skills:

Understanding of file structures (VSAM) and relational database concepts.

 

Analytical Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex| large-scale data issues

 

 

Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field is required.
