Position: Matillion SME – ETL Modernization (GCP)
Location: Secaucus, NJ (Onsite)
Duration: 6+ months contract
Job Description:
Client is looking for a Matillion Subject Matter Expert (SME) to analyze, reverse-engineer, and modernize existing ETL/ELT pipelines. The role involves transforming legacy Matillion workflows into scalable, cloud-native solutions using GCP tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and reverse-engineer existing Matillion jobs, pipelines, and transformation logic.
- Extract business rules, data lineage, and dependencies from legacy workflows.
- Redesign ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP-native services (BigQuery, Airflow, Dataflow, Dataproc).
- Build reusable frameworks and optimize performance, scalability, and cost.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to validate logic and target architecture.
- Document source-to-target mappings, workflows, and architecture designs.
- Support migration, testing, and deployment activities.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of ETL/ELT experience with strong expertise in Matillion.
- Strong SQL and data transformation skills.
- Hands-on experience with GCP: BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Dataflow/Beam, Dataproc.
- Experience migrating ETL workloads to cloud-native architectures.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and data modeling.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare or life sciences domain
- Knowledge of HL7/EDI data formats
- GCP Data Engineer certification
- Experience building reusable ETL frameworks
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field is required.
