Hi,

I think TOPODROID export the sketches to Therion  in individuals .th2; one scraps by .th2 file.

Is It possible to export all sketches of one survey in the same .th2 file with different scraps? One unique file with different scraps is easier to do better joins.

In the same direction, it is not possible to view the overview with all the sketches in the draw screen to do a better join of the new sketch with the others.

Thanks,

topodroid export schetches as individual files.

- if the default sketch export format is set each sketch is exported automatically when it is closed.

- sketch export can easily become time consuming, because sketch exports are text files, and users can draw BIG sketches (several hundreds meters and filled with details).

- sketches can be split, copied and joined, thus creating redundant data.
this makes post-processing less trivial, and it should be used only by expert surveyors

- it is easier to join files than to split them.
joining th2 files is a piece of cake, on unix :-)
    cat *.th2 > all_scraps.th2

topodroid can display the outline of another sketch on the canvas.
it can also display the outlines of the x-sections.
check the page of changes to see if these features are in your version.

finally the overview window of topodroid can display the outline of all the sketches together.

Thanks Marco,

I am beginner with Topodroid and Therion. But I am not new to cave survey, I have done cave survey from the last 35 years, in complex system cave with 50 km and 1349m depth; from graphic paper to digital treatment (Lotus 1-2-3, Autocad, COMPASS and AURIGA).

I don’t know we can join .th2 files from Topodroid easily like a “cat” Unix command. I thought there would be problems copying directly two .th2 files, since there would be problems defining the coordinates of the 2 canvases. Then I can do it in windows with copy&past to joins the scraps in one file.

I am not a beginner in UNIX, I have worked in AIX  and Linus in the 90’. I have done one of the first GRASS GIS compilation in Linux 0.99.14, and   2 commands and 1 script have been incorporated in the GRASS GIS from the version 4.2. Lately I don’t have Linux o other UNIX machine, I am now working in Windows (I don`t like but need professionally).

I am running Topodroid 3.4.3. After you comment I have found the option in the canvas to display the outline of others sketch. As in other options the translation into Spanish does not help to find what you want. (Manu I has a good job with the translation but some concepts would have to be reviewed)

Thanks again,

indeed each scrap has its ref system,
but coords should be consistent in each scrap.
i did not try: you might have to autoadjust canvas in xtherion

Marco,

It's not that easy.

I have tried copying 2 files in one, and the scraps are displaced. The two being the origin point. The second is not in its position below the first at survey stations.

that's as it should be.

you fix the drawings in topodroid, then you do not care about scraps placement in the xtherion canvas
