i am considering dropping distox2/distoxble firmware upload functions from topodroid
because the distox2 development has stopped and the distoxble is very unlikely to have new development.

any objection ?

which use case could require to upload the firmware now that the distox is no longer developed ?

I had to reboot one of my distoX2 ... and reload the firmware... that was quite useful.

Hi Marco,
Thanks again for all your work - past and future.

I would also like to see Disto firmware update remain.  For occasional support of old Distos (corrupted firmware, or replacing the microcontroller chip).  Recently I saved my DistoX2 upgrade board after it got wet and corroded, this required removing the microcontroller chip (there was a tiny bit of corrosion on the control lines of the laser module).  Fortunately I was able to solder it back on ok, but it was nice to know I could probably find a replacement chip and program it if things got even more desperate.

However, if there is a good reason for removing the functionality, a workaround is to use an old Topodroid version (so long as they are available).

Best regards,
Stephen Fordyce
