you can replace current symbols by replacing the files in point, line, and area subfolders of files.

system symbols cannot be changed.

symbol palettes are not installed from folders.

where you got the idea that your files should be under a "symbol" subfolder ?

you should place your files in the place where topodroid files are.

the question was "where did you get the idea of the symbol subfolder" ?

is it stated somewhere in the manual ?

you put your symbols in topodroid folders point, line, and area.

the eight or nine system symbols are hardcoded in the program.

-I’m a HUGE fan of you and Topodroid man, I’m sick of people diminishing your symbol sets so I figured if I could add a few more “accepted” symbols, at least in Missouri, where I live, it’ll be more widely accepted. there’s only a handful of people here using Topodroid.  -same with Therion as well.

i found it: in the man page about how topodroid organized its files and surveys it is incorrectly stated that the point, line, and area folders are inside the symbol folder.

this is wrong, and it will be fixed in the next version 6.3.44.

they are at the same level as bin, ccsv, etc.

custom symbols should be placed in topodroid point, line, and area folder,

possibly replacing the existing topodroid symbol files

I wasn’t sure if I should create a separate folder with the new point symbol in it or just place it directly into the /files/Symbols/point folder…
