hi,
while sketching the sketch might be filled with stations and splays, making it hard to differentiate where to draw.
would be nice to have an option to hide unwanted data in a sketch.
the flow to be like: choose a single station or few stations (those that important to you) and click a 'hide all others' button.
for example if you have a survey of 10 stations, in some sketch you will see station 3-5, in another sketch you will see station 7. with their splays of course.
is this possible?

Help (page_sketch_station.htm):

Midline hiding
Hiding parts of the midline is useful when the survey is complicated or goes over itself. In this case it is useful to see only the relevant portion of the midline, by hiding what lies beyond a station. If the midline beyond a station is hidden, the station is highlighted: violet if the hidden midline lies between them and the sketch origin station, red otherwise. Stations in the part of midline behind a "red" station, are not automatically saved as Therion station points. Therefore, by choosing the sketch origin station inside the scrap and marking stations as barrier you can avoid spurious stations in the scrap file.
The display of the midline can be limited through the property edit dialog of leg shots. When the midline beyond the station is hidden, there is a button to revert and show it in the station edit dialog.

SKETCH SHOT

This dialog is opened when you select a survey shot and tap the Item button in the Drawing window (in "edit" mode).
...
  • checkboxes to hide the midline (legs only)

ooh, good to know this functionality exist.
though... i would like to suggest a more easy way to do this:
inside a sketch,
long press on the "display" button will open a dialog with two input fields,
that will be - "show legs and splays from station _X_ to station _Y_"
and a "show all" button.
same functionality with more approachable UI.
what you think?

the portion of midline between two stations is a path because the midline is a (directed) tree.
showing only the path (with splays) might be not what a user would expect because the side passages are excluded from the path.

the solution to hide portion of the midline in the leg dialog, and to show again in the station dialog, is aimed to avoid behaviors that might confuse the user.

Thus it is not the "same functionality".

Neither it is "more approchable". The textual interface puts more borden on the user: remember the station named, if i made i mistake, i have to go back, etc. With the graphical interface i choose on the sketch.

i don't see any real benefit in terms of use-cases.
