In fact, my first takeaways is that simply annotating and scrapping sentences from a book will rarely give something worth keeping. We tend to do so a bit emotionally. We highlight what stimulated us but it could very well be due to an accumulation of information and not this very exact sentence.

Our team has been coming up with linkable content asset ideas, executing them and promoting content for it to get links for more than 10 years. So I got some input from them to see how they are doing it.
One of the first steps I take when brainstorming for a client or a specific topic is asking myself what I would want to know. We want our content to catch the attention and resonate with our fellow humans, so tapping into our human curiosity is a wonderful way to achieve that.
Think about who would care about the content you produce. Would it interest users in a particular demographic, geographic location, or niche hobby? You can create the most amazing content in the world, but if there's no audience that cares, it won't be successful.
You can find questions your target audience is asking, pain points, topics of interest, etc. and create a resource that fulfills those angles. Being genuinely helpful goes a long way on Reddit and beyond!
Remember none of these tools will give you a complete idea. They are only good for finding a direction to explore and brainstorm further on. Use ChatGPT or Gemini to ask them come up with unique and engaging angles based on your research but - again - use it is a starting point.
Brainstorming is a strategy used to generate a number of ideas to help solve a particular problem. The technique has been around for over 70 years and is still used today to engage students in solving a range of problems.
Techniques vary but there is a general structure to follow when developing brainstorming sessions. After the problem or issue is presented, students are organized into groups to brainstorm all possible ideas which could solve the problem. Discussion of these ideas takes place after the brainstorming session ends, usually after a defined period of time. Each idea will be discussed and considered, some ideas will be eliminated, and a final list will be ranked for possible use as a solution toward solving the problem.
It is important to plan the brainstorming session before implementing it in the classroom. As outlined below, you will need to consider the strengths, challenges and barriers when designing the session.
Brainstorming sessions can be a useful strategy to encourage genuine collaboration and interaction in the classroom. Putting together a well-stated problem and careful planning strategies can lead to meaningful idea generation and idea building which can be used in solving problems or addressing specific course-related issues.
Today was an action-packed class, with lots of engagement from my students. We were learning about brainstorming with candy and about the speaking and listening process. It was a perfect way to spend a full moon Friday the 13th together!
The class had two distinct sections today, starting with our first Speaking Workshop. On Monday, I assigned several articles and poems for the students to read, all of which revolved around the question: should you follow your passion or not? They had all week to read them and were instructed to come to class with notes and quotes that they could use as reference during their small group discussions.
After their discussion, we switched over to one of my favourite writing activities. We review the rules of brainstorming and then I group students and tell them to pick a recorder. Then I hand out a sour key to each student and tell them not to touch it (I put a napkin on one of their desks and place the candies on it).
Next, I tell them that the exercise has three parts and they have to pay attention to my instructions.
To sweeten the task, literarily, I tell them that one group will get the rest of the candy. And then we begin. First, they brainstorm what the candy looks like. I encourage them to be as descriptive as possible. After about ninety seconds, I tell them they can pick the key up and feel it. They brainstorm words and phrases to describe how it feels in their hands, and then, finally, they can put it in their mouth. At this point I tell them to describe not only how it tastes, but how it feels in their mouths.
By expressing ideas and listening to what others say, students adjust their previous knowledge or understanding, accommodate new information and increase their levels of awareness. Brainstorming's main purposes are to:
Initially, some students may be reluctant to speak out in a group setting, but brainstorming is an open sharing activity that encourages all students to participate. Teachers should emphasise active listening during these sessions.
4) Start the brainstorming. The leader can open the floor or select members of the group to share their answers. The scribe should write down all responses, ideally so that everyone can see them. Make sure not to evaluate or criticise any answers until the brainstorming is complete.

About 20 years ago I was leading a brainstorming session in one of my MBA classes, and it was like wading through oatmeal. We were talking about something that many organizations struggle with: how to build a culture of equality in a male-dominated environment. Though it was an issue the students cared about, they clearly felt uninspired by the ideas they were generating. After a lot of discussion, the energy level in the room was approaching nil. Glancing at the clock, I resolved to at least give us a starting point for the next session.
