SoI have a Microsoft Surface Laptop 2, i5. I upgraded to Windows 11 about a month ago all was fine until I decided to install my graphics card update (Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620) through Intel Update & Install. Since then, I began to get a BSOD after I had put my computer to sleep a couple of times. The keyboard lit up and nothing would appear on the screen and after waiting over a couple minutes, the BSOD would appear as stop code INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR.
After googling the problem, I figured it is a driver error. I downloaded Outbyte Driver Updater and carried out a scan. It found numerous drivers that were not updated. So after updating them (and setting a restore point), I thought hey presto, all was fixed. But NO! What I realised was that my touch screen stopped working! I decided to carry out all the usual checks, restart computer, uninstall drivers, safe mode etc etc, but nothing worked. I did notice that once I restart my computer, my touch screen works, but not the gestures, such as Zoom in/out pinches AND after putting the head down of the laptop so it goes to sleep, and then turning it back on, the touch screen fully STOPS working.
I checked device manager and HID compliant touch screen driver was missing. Though there are two other touch drivers - Intel(R) Precise Touch Device and Koga Extended Touch Device. I found the HID compliant touch screen driver to be updated by Outbyte Updater so I tried to system restore to restore it back to before the driver was updated. Neither the Outbyte Updater or Windows could do a proper system restore, I do not know for whatever reason, whenever the computer restarts an error message said the system restore could not be completed. What is worse the BSOD still appeared after putting the laptop to sleep a few times.
After covering all the avenues I had googled, I came to the conclusion that I need to reset my laptop to factory settings. I did this, once with Windows 11, then again with to Windows 10 and then back to Windows 11, and each time the HID Compliant Touch Screen Driver was missing in Device Manager (I even tried show hidden drivers). I thought the drivers reset too following a full proper clean reset of Windows but i guess not! Now I also lost the restore points of Outbyte Driver before the HID touch was updated (Outbyte are going to get the worst review after this!!)
So currently I am with no touch screen unless I restart my laptop and until I close the lid and put it to sleep. And if I do that a few times, my keyboard lights up but screen remains black and I eventually get the BSOD INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR come up and restarts my computer. I have screenshotted a picture of my device manager showing hidden drivers for someone to help.
I have also done Scan for Hardware changes on device manager - nothing. I have done the Windows troubleshooting as advised online and different forums - nothing resolved or picked up there. I have done Windows Update - nothing. I have reverted Windows Update - nothing.
I have also tried to download touch screen drivers from the Microsoft Catalogue and even The Surface Laptop 2 Drivers and Firmware on the Microsoft website but to absolutely nothing solving my issue. Is there any way to download the HID Compliant Touch Screen Driver separately? I keep seeing the same answers online as above - I need something different. I need a solution. Please can someone help!! Can I just put it out there, yes I absolutely sure my touch screen was working absolutely fine before because I would use it every single time! I wish I had never updated my drivers!!! I need new methods or solutions please!!
I'd advise you to reset your computer, keep Windows 11 and download only what's missing in Device Manager or go to the motherboard manufacturer website and download it's appropriate ones. NEVER use those drivers download tools (e.g. Driver Easy, Driver Booster) because they often cause more harm than good.
As for the Windows 11... Do your manufacturer offer drivers in Windows 11? Might be a safe choice to stay in Windows 10 until it does or the O.S. becomes more stable. My experience is that there is little to none compatibility issues, but it's hard to fully understand the scope one driver or another might interfere on your system.
Is HP going to update the nextwindow voltron touch screen driver for windows 10? Right now Windows 10 will not install because it says the display is not compatible with Windows 10. I have what I believe is the most current driver 3.1.12.4.
Installed the latest NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen (from the Win10 Creators edition - HP TouchSmart 520 touch screen went bizerk! Had (and since the touch screen was going crazy, this was fun) to disable the NextWindow driver(s).
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.
They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.
Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.
Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.
If your touchscreen has never worked, and you don't see a listing for an HID-compliant touchscreen, contact the manufacturer of your device. Provide them with the product number, and they can tell you if your device should have a touchscreen. Many laptop product lines include similar versions with and without touchscreens.
To install the Lenovo touchpad driver, open Device Manager, then go to the Mice and other pointing devices section and uninstall the driver. Next, restart the PC, navigate to the Lenovo support site and download the driver. Restart the PC again.
I want to disable the driver for my touchpad. It is called "PS/2 Compatible Mouse". If I go to properties the disable button is grayed out. There is also no option to disable in the context menu if I right click on it in device manager. A attached a screenshot of the issue below. I am using Windows 8 but I'm guessing the issue would be the same in Windows 7.
Click right mouse button to "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" > choose update driver > driver from your computer (not automatically) > choose driver from list > unclick "Show compatible hardware"...and choose another type (I chose mouse from Acer - API USB). Your touchpad will be disabled after restart of your computer. Then (for sure) click on disable driver in your device manager.
Is it possible to use Windows touchpad driver in Ubuntu? I have a Dell n5110 and the touchpad is not recognized. I cannot use scroll, and most annoying, while typing the pointer usually jumps if the touchpad is touched. I see that there are lots of questions here and on the internet about this issue. Some claim to work, but I tried everything with no results.
dell basically shipped a new touchpad from alps, where previous alps drivers don't work. it uses a new protocol to use the multi-finger touch pad. alps (or dell) doesn't care about giving the drivers to linux distros.
No , you cannot use Windows Driver for Ubuntu in any case . It is simple not possible. If you probably ask How to make the DELL N5110 Touchpad working in Ubuntu , you will probably get more proper help here.
If your Samsung PC's touchpad is not working, it may simply be locked or disabled. There is an easy way to unlock it and get the touchpad working again. If that doesn't do the trick, resetting the driver or installing updates could help. If all else fails, try a factory reset.
I am developing a touch screen driver for windows 7 , it works fine when a single display is attached but when i attach a secondary display the touch inputs get mapped only to the primary display . Is there any way in which i can map the touch inputs to the secondary monitor ?
In Windows on an Intel-based Mac, you can set trackpad options that affect clicking, secondary clicking, dragging, and more. Depending on your trackpad, you see only some of these configuration options.
Support for Microsoft precision touchpad drivers in Windows is available for Mac computers with the Apple T2 Security Chip. If your Mac supports these drivers, you can set precision touchpad options using Windows; otherwise, you can set trackpad options using Boot Camp Control Panel. See the Apple Support article Mac models with the Apple T2 Security Chip.

I want to share my experience about the Microsoft Surface support team and the kind of smart warranty deals they offer, in case, of hardware failures. The Surface book is a very good, smart and an useful device for the following reasons:
Windows 10 Anniversary Update: 1. Windows 10 anniversary update is a little disappointing, especially on the Microsoft SurfaceBook. My Surface book is about 18 months old. My touch has stopped working. The reason is under Device Manager -> Human Interface devices, there is a HID-compliant touch screen driver. The pre-anniversary update edition installs one driver and the anniversary edition installs another driver. This causes the touch to fail. In most of the blogs, they say uninstall the second HID compliant driver and check for an updated driver software. It re-installs the same driver again. There is no updated driver software for touch. I have tried all the possible solutions to stop the driver duplication, but the touch issue persists. After several attempts, I realized both these drivers are dependent on each other and that's strange.
2. Most of the blogs state that uninstall the Intel Precise Touch Device driver and then restart your Surface book. This should fix the problem. It re-installs the Anniversary update version of the driver. With the creators update, there are no updated touch driver software.
