Guys,
We are very much looking forward to having everyone in KC this weekend
July 12th for the 8th annual Heartland 7’s.
It looks like we’ll have a 6 or 8-team Qualifier Division, a 14-team Open Division, and a 6 or 8-team High School Division.
Below is A LOT of info that I ask each of you to read, covering everything you'll hopefully need to know ahead of - and for - Saturday in terms of tournament facilities, amenities, and general schedule of events.

Qualifier:

Qualifier play is scheduled to kick-off at 9:00am. Championships will be played at 4:00pm.
·
Captain’s meeting will be at 8:30am at the Tournament HQ Tent, run by Howard Kent (Frontier 7s Director), and H7’s Division Coordinator Joe Fridkin. Howard is handling all eligibility and paperwork requirements
for the Qualifier division, as well as brackets and match schedules.

Qualifier teams, please stay tuned for additional emails from Howard with more details on roster submissions, including a final schedule.
Open Division:
·
Open play is scheduled to kick-off at 10:00am, each team is guaranteed at least 4 matches. Championships will be played at 5:40pm.
·
Captain’s meeting will be at 9:30am at the Tournament HQ Tent, run H7’s Division Coordinator by Brian English.
·
All players must be CIPP registered with USA Rugby (do not need to be CIPP’d with same team), and have the coach/captain turn-in the attached roster form at the captain’s meeting.
·
All players must sign the attached participation waiver and have the coach/captain turn-in at the captain’s meeting.
·
We are awaiting final confirmation from a few teams before we set a 14-team schedule.
·
We will get another email out by Friday to all Open Division teams, with Saturday’s schedule.
High School Division
·
High School Division will kick-off at 10:40am, each team is guaranteed at least 4 matches. Championships will be played at 5:20pm.
·
Coaches meeting will be at 10:15am at the Tournament HQ Tent, run by H7’s Division Coordinator Brendan Murphy.
·
All players must be CIPP registered with USA Rugby (do not need to be CIPP’d with same team), and have the coach/captain turn-in the attached roster form at the captain’s meeting.
·
All players must sign the attached participation waiver and have the coach/captain turn-in at the captain’s meeting.
·
We have 6 HS teams confirmed, and we do have room for additional ones. Confirmed are: Littleton (CO), Northside (CO), Edina (MN), Cougars (KS), SC7A Blues (MO), SC7A White (MO).
·
The HS Division will play on the Qualifier Fields, during their scheduled breaks. We will get another email out by Friday to all HS Division teams, with Saturday’s schedule.
Tournament Facility
We’ll be hosting the event at Legacy Park, in Lee’s Summit, MO.
This is a multi-pitch natural grass facility located approximately
24 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City.

Coming south from Colbern Rd onto Blackwell Road, take your second left onto NE Woodland Shores Drive, to enter the park.
·
Upon entering the park, access the facility and parking by taking your first driveway on the left.
·
Look for signs indicating ‘Heartland 7’s Rugby’ along the way.

Legacy Park is an ALCOHOL FREE FACILITY. No alcohol will be allowed to be brought in or sold on the premises, and coolers will be searched at the gate.
Parking
Parking is FREE for all teams and spectators.
Please park in the WEST parking lot. There are over 1,200 parking spaces within the facility, so plenty of room for everyone.
Admission
·
Adult spectators will be charged
$5.00 general admission
upon
entry, and will get a wristband good for re-entry the entire day.
·
Athletes and team personnel will enter free.
·
Adult and child spectators will get a wristband upon entry so that they can come and go throughout the day.
·
Athletes will be each be given a TEAM PASS card,
that they’ll need to keep with them if/when they exit the facility so that they can re-enter without being charged.
·
Each team will be issued 15 TEAM PASS cards – if you need more please let me know. These will be distributed at the Captain’s meetings
to each team.
Tournament Amenities

Designated area for all teams to setup their own pop-tents and camp areas for the day, between Fields # 10 & #12

All teams will received 4 cases of water at the Captains meeting – there will be accessible drinking water throughout the day to refill bottles/jugs

Qualifier teams will receive 2 cases of Gatorade, and 3-4 servings of fresh fruit for each of their players at the Captains meeting

Permanent restrooms available throughout the facility for athletes and fans, with additional porta-potties onsite
-
On-site athletic trainer & EMT available all day for free taping and injury assessment/treatment

Full food concessions sales available the entire day

Full rugby merchandise setup hosted by Hooligan Rugby, with tournament t-shirts for purchase
Tournament Party
Waldo Neighborhood Pub Crawl, beginning at 8pm Saturday night
No cover AND drink specials for all athletes and fans over 21, at 3 bars all within 100 yards of each other and 2 miles from the Tournament Hotel
