Saturday update

Dad's pretty much back where he started on Monday, before this tough week. PEEP 5, O2 50% and lowered sedation. We're to make a decision about doing a trach by Monday morning so they know whether to schedule everything or not. They'd plan to insert a trach about Wednesday; that would be Day 20 on the ventilator. Mom, Ricki and I will be discussing it by phone on Sunday.

PS. Cousin Nicki has a bacterial infection again. If the last antibiotic doesn't work.......??? 

Isn't it amazing how we take our antibiotics for granted? Before antibiotics, most people died if they got a bacterial infection.
