Just a follow-up to my update on the ventilator. I called in and a very nice nurse talked me through my questions about Dad and the ventilator. If you want more details, email me, but, cutting to the chase, most Covid patients are on the ventilator for about three weeks so I won't plan to update every day.
The hospital does have quite a bit of experience with Covid patients now and is gaining more every day and it sounds like there's about a 50-50 chance of recovery once a person is placed on a ventilator.
I don't want to get my hopes up, but it also sounded like Dad's been a good patient whose only real strike is his age. Maybe he really is starting to conquer the virus but his body is just worn out from breathing. If so, maybe the ventilator will provide the rest he needs in less than three weeks.
I just pray we'll have the grace to release him to a better place if that's God's will.
