The Topeka Audubon Society is interested in knowing
about Chimney Swift roost sites in Topeka and Shawnee County. If you
see Chimney Swifts entering (evening) or exiting (morning) a chimney indicating an overnight roost
site, or know about a chimney recently used as a Chimney Swift nest site, please
feel free to share your observations by emailing us at
topekasw...@gmail.com. You may also report your sightings to the citizen science database
eBird.org.
Chimney Swifts are congregating and roosting in larger numbers now as
they prepare for their long migration to their winter grounds in South
America. Numbers here peak around mid-September to mid-October. If you
have questions, please let us know. This note will also be posted on Topeka Audubon Society's Facebook page.
