About the Author


Thomas J. Carey is a U.S. Air Force veteran who held a Top Secret security clearance. He has spent the last 23 years investigating the Roswell incident and published more than 35 articles about it. Tom has appeared as a guest on many radio and TV shows and contributed to a number of Roswell-related documentaries. Together with Donald R. Schmitt, they have written many bestselling books such as Witness to Roswell.
 
Donald R. Schmitt is a best-selling author, a former co-director of special investigations at the J. Allen Hyneck Center for UFO Studies in Chicago, and a founder of the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell. He has been interviewed on a number of media outlets including Oprah, 48 Hours, the Today Show, and the New York Times. Together with Thomas J. Carey, they have written many bestselling books such as Witness to Roswell.
 
Stanton T. Friedman is a nuclear physicist who worked on a wide variety of advanced, classified nuclear systems for major industrial companies. He began the civilian investigation of the Roswell Incident; wrote Flying Saucers and Science and TOP SECRET/MAJIC; and coauthored Crash at Corona, Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience, and Science Was Wrong. He has appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs. Friedman resides in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Review: When we read a book by investigative writers, we trust that what they are telling us has been checked or verified to the best of the author's ability. I know this might seem like I am being pedantic, but these guys are prone to hyperbole, exaggeration and inaccuracies. First off, the phrase "The real Area 51" is nonsense. Area 51 is the real Area 51. Wright-Pat is a different facility where TS/SCI work is done also performed. The fact that AMC/FTD was at Wright-Pat is not a secret, and is not new information. I've never seen anything that said that wreckage went to Area 51. It's been known for many decades that the wreckage went to W-P via Carswell.

Secondly, the include lines that I am sure they believed would read very well, but they leave one (me, anyway) feeling like I can't trust them. "Sonic booms shook the windows around Dayton Ohio as B-52s flew overhead." The B-52 is subsonic... If you can't get something that simple right, what else are you getting wrong?

If you are new to UFO lore, this might be fine, as the 30,000 ft details in the book are largely fine, but if you are looking for new or highly accurate information, I would keep looking.

Review: I enjoyed this book for its ease and enjoyment to read. I also found all the eyewitness accounts of Roswell and Wright-Patterson to be fascinating. It is pretty shocking that there are so many witness accounts including some pretty high level folks in the military. What was a bit vexing though was some evidence that the book was really not edited or edited properly.

Errors included:
A picture captioned Alamogordo, TX - Alamogordo is in NM
A reference that folks living around Wright-Patterson were bothered by sonic booms from B52s. B52s are subsonic aircraft incapable of producing sonic booms
A reference that Barry Goldwater retired in 1987 under Carter. In 1987 Ronald Reagan was President, not Carter.

These issues didn't detract from the overal joy and readability of the book, but they do make the book look a bit sloppy and they should have been avoided.

Title: Not as good as Witness to Roswell

Review: I just read this after finishing Witness to Roswell. This book is not as good. It has a lit of foot notes, but too many of them do not point to primary sources. Too often they refer to other UFO books or articles. Many coukd be good or maybe not. I woukd have to evaluate each one to see how trustworthy they may be. There are many footnotes that refer to actual people the authors personally interviewed. Once again, many are second hand accounts. The previous book had more direct witnesses. There are several in this book, but not as many. That is not to say this book is useless, only it isn't as well documented as the previous.
However, that being said they have A LOT of stories from credible witnesses that seem to have no benefit from speaking. Furthermore, the whole premise that America pretty much has a absolute, physical proof the UFOs are real and extraterrestrial, is the simplest explanation for the documented curious behavior of our government seemingly completed unconcerned about DOCUMENTED cases of objects hovering around our most secret facilities, playing cat and mouse with our fighter interceptors, and shutting down the electronics of our land based ICBMs. I simply think that explanation is much more plausible than bureaucratic paralysis in the face of something we have no control over and do not want to admit to that lack of control. Every military person I have ever personally met is very hard headed, and certainly not "apathetic" or "paralyzed". If they thought there was a real threat, they would not stop until they had an answer.

Review: A well written, nicely paced book on the history of Wright-Patterson as it relates to rumored UFO artifacts. The most interesting parts are the accounts of those who saw, or were told by others about the UFO wreckage and the aliens on board. I try to keep an open mind on this subject and one has to wonder; could all of these witnesses be liars, seriously mistaken, guilty of conflation, or just plain stupid? I kind of doubt that......

Review: Do yourself a favor and buy it, if you are even the slightest bit intrigued by its description you will love this book. It has seriously opened my eyes to a lot of things and now I constantly find myself watching the sky. I even bought a copy for my step dad who is obsessed with this kind of stuff.

Review: When you read this book you will learn fascinating pieces of the entire U.F.O. mystery that you have never been exposed to before. For years I believed that what crashed at Roswell was a Horton flying wing and I have been presented with very credible evidence that it was not and that there were other U.F.O. crashes in the United States and I totally accept the evidence that everything was transferred to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
