G'day,
This day had to come and is why I switched to Linux as XP SP2
represented one of their best OS.

http://tech.slashdot.org/story/10/05/13/1816245/Microsoft-Kills-Support-For-XP-SP2

From a business point of view I can understand this move but the
majority of Windows Users are still XP. If they want continued
support they will have to update to Vista/Win 7 - and possibly upgrade
their computer. From a social justice and environmental standpoint it
really isn't good! Oh well that's big business and perhaps represents
an opportunity.

Cheers
Martin

Windows XP SP3 would remain supported in my mind which remains fair.
They're slowly cutting down the supportable releases. Given it is six
years old I don't think anyone really supports software from more than
six years, especially in the Linux sphere (Ubuntu LTS is at best 5
years for server OS). I don't forsee them cutting off SP3 in the near
future however.
