i was asked to repair an asus eee pc 701sdx netbook, running the
original linux distro it came with,
if anyone has ever used it you would know its a rather painfully
unusable modified xandros distro running a almost childproof custom
UI. the issue with it is several devices have stopped working, it runs
perfectly fine in other live distros but they can never seem to work
with the resolution of the 7inch screen. the first issue i discovered
was the internal audio not working, sound is output just fine through
the headphones socket, but the internal speakers remain silent. this
led me to believe it was a driver issue so i connected it to my
network to try reinstalling the drivers, and discovered the device
drivers for the network adaptor are seemingly not even installed.

it has me stumped how this could have happened as its a fresh
reinstall of the os from the recovery partition.
everything else seems to work bar the audio. the person thats asked me
to fix it, wants the xandros os to remain, as the simplistic interface
she believes is perfect for her. which rules out a new os even if it
could pull off the resolution it needs.

if anyone has any information on the subject of these netbooks, please
let me know, i am at a loss for how to fix the audio issue, and i cant
even begin to know where to put these network drivers i downloaded.
