Dear Members and Committee Members,

I hope you all had a great Christmas and are preparing for 2015!

Dave Fredericks (a member of HTC and donator of the Oculus RIFT 2) has asked if he can use the space to run a similar group to Hack This every Saturday for 2 hours. As you can see by his proposal below, it is for those with similar interests to HTC and it may attract new members for us.

We can still utilize the space on Saturdays in the background, so it won’t interfere with our hacking time. They will donate gold coins to use any of the Coffee/Tea utilities and will follow the rules of the space at ALL times.

I was hoping we could pass this proposal via email so we can vote without having to have an official meeting?. Please respond with any further questions or discussion, or if satisfied with the info, please respond with a YES or NO. If yes, should we have an MOU in place? Thanks guys!

Ps: Brendan, could you please email to Tobias as I don’t have his email address and not sure if he’s part of the google group.

Proposal:

Proposed new group to use Hack This Co-op’s Space on Saturday from 10am to 12pm.

THE TOOWOOMBA COMPUTER SOCIETY

The Toowoomba Computer Society is a new group that meets once a week to discuss the latest in computers and software. Meant for computer enthusiasts of all ages, its purpose is to share ideas and knowledge of a variety of hardware and software applications. It differs from Hack-This in that the main activity is communication of information about computers and software, rather than the hands on work that Hack-This does. It would consist mainly of active discussion and notetaking.

It is a non-profit, just a gold coin donation. Members will not be actively using computers or the NBN. Happy to have a MOU for consideration of the rules of Hack This and willing to sign one.

Hack This members are welcome to use the space in the background while the discussion is on,

More info can be found on their website at:

It sounds basically like the what we do at the hackerspace on most Sundays (most sundays people aren't doing hands-on projects but more-so doing computer geek gatherings).

Just a suggestion (and I know, it's not available until early next year), but is this the sort pf thing that could be done in the new library's meeting rooms (when it's built)?
