With the Security Templates snap-in, you can create a security policy for your network or computer by using security templates. A security template is a text file that represents a security configuration. You can apply a security template to the local computer, import a security template to Group Policy, or use a security template to analyze security. You can use a predefined security template that is included in Windows Server 2003, modify a predefined security template, or create a custom security template that contains the security settings that you want. Security templates can be used to define the following components:
FOG is an open source solution for disk imaging. (ex: Create a disk image of a virtual machine, sysprep and deploy that one image to ten computers.) FOG can also remotely install snap-ins. A snap-in can be any executable file. If I want to change something group policy related on one or more machines, I would create a registry file with the group policy registry values that need updated. I create batch scripts to call regedit /s on the .reg files and update the registry.
Because we are not creating a duplicate copy, we cannot change any of the values on the General tab. If we created a duplicate, we could change those. For example, how long should the certificate be valid? The same goes for Request Handling, Subject Name, and Extensions. If we wanted to change those, we would have to create a duplicate.
Another reason to schedule a dental check-up is to make sure that you don't experience a toothache or infection. We treat patients throughout the Vista area and find that toothaches can create enough discomfort to cause people to miss work. In fact, according to the Center for Disease Control, 164 million work hours are lost each and every year due to dental related health issues. If you have a busy schedule and feel you do not have time for the dentist, you definitely need to schedule a dental checkup. Failing to do so could result in a more serious health condition forming and the need to take time off of work. After all, without preventative dental care, you are at a greater risk for tooth decay, infection, and gum disease.
In its newest operating system Windows Vista, Microsoft is introducing a new version of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) tool, which as you know provides you with a shell into which you can insert various tools called snap-ins. Version 3.0 of MMC tool provides more functionality for snap-ins than prior versions and sports a smoother looking user interface that makes it much easier to create as well as use consoles. The Action Pane on the right side of the console is a new area that displays a list of actions, or commands, that are associated with a selected snap-in.
