You either haven't selected a CPU/ABI target in the dropdown below the target, or you haven't installed a system image. Open your SDK manager and ensure that you've installed ARM EABI v7a System Image under the Android 4.2 section.

I had the same problem, although all required packages were installed. I closed down Eclipse, ran monitor.bat in the \android-sdks\tools\ folder, opened the AVD Manager from there, and I was able the create virtual devices here.

I had previously seen on the Android SDK manager that a system image with the same name (ARM EABI v7a System Image) WAS installed on my system for a more recent SDK (Android 4.2). Consequently I thought it would negate the need to install the earlier Android 2.2 SDK ARM image, but apparently not.

On Kubuntu 12.04, Eclipse Kepler, ADT installed, I experienced the same symptoms. The ARM EABI v7a System Image was already installed. The way out was to run the tool from the command line, then it did not complain. I guess a restart of eclipse could have done the trick but I am not sure any more if I tried dit or not.

I had (a lot of packages) all the required packages installed but hadn't used them for some time & had issues detecting them in the SDK manager.I attempted all the solutions provided above to no avail, including running the AVD after running the monitor.bat file in 'android/sdk/tools'.

If you are having AVD creation problems, just try to put it inside a new folder (eclipse, android sdk, avd) and then you just run it and it should work. Just open Eclipse in that folder and run as usual

Seems like I'm having some problems after updating my android sdk tools and platform-tools using the sdk manager. The problem is that, after updating, I found that the avd or sdk options in the windows dropdown menu in eclipse are gone! And, I can't find any option to create an android project from file->new projects any more.

I tried removing the ADT from eclipse and the software site " -ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" from "available software sites" and then reinstalled the ADT from " -ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" using help->install new software. The installation was successful, but I still don't have any option for shortcuts to the SDK manager or the AVD in eclipse, and neither can I create a new android project.

At some point I imported an Android project that required Android 2.2, so I installed that using the Android SDK manager (v.21). Ever since then, working with Eclipse takes forever. First of all, it will print the following in the status message at the bottom right:

You can make a backup first, if you like. It stores your workbench settings (perspective state, file paths for menu options, etc.) But eclipse loaded and I didn't have to re-install anything like some answer suggest. And I haven't seen this anywhere.

I have tried all the solution but i didn't get solution. After that i have disconnected Internet and deleted ddms.cfg from .android folder -> open eclipse -> dialog of statistics send to Google? -> Selected NO and Finally Worked for Me.

just right click on eclipse and run it as a administrator i was also having the same problem after this it was working fine actully sometimes the windows do not give the permission to access to sdk in normal user so you have to give admin permissions in order to work android sdk or content loader

When i click on SDK manager in the eclipse, it does not start. I tried open it directly with Administrator permission also. But it does not start. I had tried to set the variable path like these. But I'm always getting the same error like this.

I am new to android,As long as i studied ,Android requires Java 1.5 or 1.6. You are using 1.7Google does not add complete jdk 1.7 support to android system requirement(some api are exception) .. It does not mean that you should not have jdk 1.7. you should also have 1.6 jdk for compiler compilance. it is a better way to avoid using 1.7 jdk ,if u dont want jdk 1.7 features. see the system requirements and even if u developed using 1.7...when you installing your app in real device .we may face signing issue.you may use some jar file which targetting java 1.7. but android system runtime(dalvik jvm) does not know how to process those files which means dex tool wont process those files which belongs to 1.7 and it wont create classes.dex file..hope it will help somehow

This will proceed to download the extra support repository, and place it in the $ANDROID_HOME/extras/android/m2repository/.If that does not work try downloading the zip file here. This is still not the end of it because you still have to find a way to use it and

I follow this guide Google Plugin for Eclipse 4.6 (Neon) Installation Instructions URL: https: //developers.google.com /eclipse/docs/install-eclipse-4.6 but this error occured "This version of the rendering library is more recent than your version of ADT plug-in. Please update ADT plug-in"
It does not support API 24 (Android 7.0) and API 23 (Android 6.0)

So this lets you build android apps using Eclipse? because i heard that eclipse no longer supports ADT you would have to use Android Studio but if this works i am def going to install it. But first, does this work with eclipse still??

Hello, so i am just wondering if you actually got ADT working through eclipse? i know that neon 4.6 version lets you install an IDE FOR ANDROID DEVELOPERS. but let me know if you found out how to even develop android apps through Eclipse IDE?

I've installed Android Developer Tools pluging to Eclipse Mars but i could not see Android SDK Manager menu item under Eclipse Window menu. I just see AVD manager panel when i run my android aplication. So i can not customize my AVD manager devices easly.

In the log I had a message saying that it failed to download " -ssl.google.com/android/repository/addons_list-2.xml" as the file was not found. I then went to tools->manage addon sites, then under user defined sites I added the URL " -ssl.google.com/android/repository/addon.xml" (Different from the file mentioned in the log but it seemed to work). When I exited that dialog it updated the list and the extras folder was now populated with items including the Android Support Library.

I have a problem in creating a new android virtual device in eclipse I have a window with this information needed :AVD name ,Device ,Target ,CPU/ABI ,Keyboard ,Skin ,Front Camera ,Back Camera ,Memory Options ,Internal Storge ,SD Card ,Emulation Options ,and an OK button .

They most probably have changed some AVD settings. As for your second question regarding what options you should select: Don't make a very tiny SD card. Anything above 100mb should work fine. As for target choose the android version you've downloaded a system image for using the SDK.

if u cant click the ok button, try running avd manager outside eclipse.it worked for me as i encountered very same problem...later choose that device from avd manager using eclipse.it will run the stimulator

I've tried running eclipse as an administrator (that's what stopped the AVD manager from crashing outside of eclipse). I've tried just waiting around, or clicking multiple times. Looking at the Task Manager, no new processes begin when I click OK, nor does eclipse's CPU or RAM usage increase at all. The "Edit Android Virtual Device" window doesn't even go away.

However I was partially successful to create an AVD by opening "AVD manager.exe" from "Android SDK" for creating new AVD try to open directly AVD Manager.exe in SDK folder.

At =66661 android project members conforms the problems and promises to fix by upcoming versions of ADT (22.6.1 - 22.6.3). At the mean time I would suggest to roll-back ADT to a lower version version 22.3.0

This launches the same AVD window you see when you click the AVD Manager icon in the eclipse toolbar. But this instance of the AVD manager does not have the bug, and you can create and run emulators as you did before the bug was introduced.

I tried yashwanth krishnan solution and tried to open the AVD Manageer.exe directly without success. The manager will not open directly for me on Windows 8 x64. It tries to open, then shuts down immediately...

I banged my head on this for several hours until I found out that the default location was C:\username path\SDKs or something, where Android was installed on my system to D:\sdks\android_sdk_windows. So, changing the Eclipse Android directory to D:\sdks\android_sdk_windows fixed it.

I went into the SDK manager and I uninstalled the tools (by clicking the Tool checkbox). It took several minutes to delete them all. Then I reinstalled the Tools which took about ten minutes. I rebooted Eclipse and the AVD and worked just like it did yesterday!

SDK Manager is not opening from eclipse. An initialization screen comes but the SDK Manager doesn't open. I have tried renaming android.bat file but that doesnt work. Re-installing has also been tried.

The reason of this is using newer version of android sdk tools.Eclipse supports sdk tools version 25.2.5 and build-tools version 25.0.3. The reason is google has removed some optional/deprecated tools from sdk tools in release 25.3.0. But eclipse needs them to work with android projects. So the thing you can do is delete tools folder from your sdk and download eclipse supported version

You can now access to SDK manager by using the android command, which is located in tools directory of your sdk. You can also do this from eclipse.Note that Eclipse supports build-tools version 25.0.3 and older, so you will have to download them. For other tools you can select latest version. They are supported by eclipse.

I implemented the solution that Andrew S provided at Missing "/extras/google/google_play_services/libproject" folder after update to revision 30. First, I downloaded -ssl.google.com/android/repository/google_play_services_8298000_r28.zip. That means that instead of the Google Play services, revision 39 that I was trying to use, I went to the older revision 28.
