Razer has a new software that is supposed to emulate 7.1 audio through stereo headphones, similar to cmss-3d and dolby headphone. If you don't have either of these available to you, it may be worth a shot. Razer's implementation has the ability to be custom tuned to your headphones/ears. I'm skeptical given razer's track record, and the preview they have make it seem like they intentionally made the non surround clip sound as bad as possible.

last time i tried some virtual surround thing, it was with my xonar dg audio card and it reduced the quality of the audio dramatically and just made it sound really echo-y. will give this a try and see if it works.

I've been using the Razer Megalodon Headset for about a year now. It uses the multiple drivers method to simulate 7.1 surround sound and has a button on the volume control that toggles between stereo and simulated 7.1.

The 7.1 doesn't work very well when playing audio that doesn't support surround sound though. It sounds all echo-y. That's where the toggle comes into play though. I don't know if the drivers allow you to turn it on and off easily like the Megalodon does, so not everyone might find it useful.

After uninstalling razer surround my computer no longer realizes there are any audio inputs or outputs. right clicking on the volume on the taskbar and clicking playback or recording devices shows nothing in the lists, when before it would show at least something. I have an asus g46v laptop and everything was working fine until I uninstalled razer surround (surround wasnt causing me problems, i just didnt find it too great and got rid of it). If anyone knows how to fix this i would love to know because i talk to friends online almost all day and not being able to hear anything or talk to anyone is really annoying.

I have emailed razer and got a response back asking for screen shots, to help understand the problem but have not heard for 24 hours since then. I cant take screenshots (i was on my phone the whole time emailing razer) but you can see what I mean by right clicking the volume and clicking on recording or playback devices, for me it shows nothing in the list and says "No audio devices are installed"

Havent looked for another cause I dont really want another, really just want it back to normal. Im about to see if i can talk with razer, thanks for the idea. and yeah razer was helpful enough to get me one response but nothing further.

Razer 7.1 Surround Sound is a free customizable software program for headsets. Gamers use Razer Surround because they can calibrate the audio to create a personalized virtual surround sound environment for an added advantage while playing games. The freeware is compatible with Microsoft Windows PC computers and laptops on Windows 10 64-bit operating systems.

The lightweight product features a modern user interface that is easy to use. You do not need to use a USB cord to connect your preferred stereo headphones, earbuds, etc. Razer Surround takes data on where noises are coming from to influence the sounds and make the headphones feel like a complete surround sound stereo system.

Boom 3D and Dolby Atmos are alternative surround solutions that you can download and install. Boom 3D is cross-platform and compatible with Windows PC and Mac devices. You can use Dolby Atmos on PC and Xbox systems. While Razer Surround is primarily made for headsets, Boom 3D and Dolby Atmos can be used with headphones and speakers.

A couple months back, Razer launched Razer Comms, which is a communications software package designed to help improve communication while gaming. Today, Razer also introduced Razer Surround, which is an exciting new software package that Razer claims will offer virtual 7.1 surround sound to any pair of stereo headphones.

The unique thing about Razer Surround is that Razer Surround gives you the option of calibrating headsets to make sure the virtual surround sound is working properly. As virtual surround sound uses a combination of stuff like time delays and lowering of volumes, different headphone drivers, different earcup materials, different head shapes, different ear shapes, etc. can all make a difference ultimately in how the sound is perceived. With calibration, Razer effectively allows you to tune the virtual surround sound to ensure that it sound right no matter if you use a pair of Razer headphones or not.

No. I have this on a portable computer, as well as a desktop with a SoundBlaster ZxR, and whilst this does mostly sound better than the sh*** Realtek HD, it DOES NOT COMPARE to the ZxR.
This does most of the same things as the ZxR, with the virtual surround, bass boost, and stereo widening, but this sounds muddy somehow muddy, increases latency a smidge, and often clips.
Also, I just noticed that this is a 7 month old comment that, but it has become free again for Synapse 2 (which is absolutely horrid) users.

using the mic into the ports on the back of the PC gets you better isolation and cleaner sound than a front port or often the analog maybe is perceived as nicer than the USB audio stuff. But yeah turning off spatial audio can help when recording as you will need the listener to turn on their spatial audios or sound settings. if you record with it already set, what sounds good for your system would sound awful for others. lower latency doesnt hurt though. i think i had to order my mics in from micbooster some maybe UK website related somehow to david attenborough documentary camera man? are they overpriced maybe? are they the same ones in the 3dio but costing a fraction less? sounds like it. Are they cheapest argentinian mics with some trick to make them sound better and many times the price? who knows? to my ears they sound great with my hifiman sundaras and xduoo xd05 plus portable headphone amp using gold OCC 16core cabling i got from lunashops? so uhh. i dunno whenever i install some software like my steel series keyboard stuff.. its got **bleep**ty fake audio and sonar that sounds like trash. often dolby headphones and DTSX headphones sounds like trash too unless its a DTSX audio file im playing back. I often have to leave everything to no spatial audio and stuff because it sounds better honestly with my settings. even on my atmos 5.1.2.2 surround sound system which can play DTSX its similar to my headphones in that it maybe sounds better without.

Hello I can't hear spotify sound with my headphone and there is no post about it.
Please help me ( I try to restart my pc I update everything , my headphone razer surround other... ) I'm in USB ( not in jack )

Current generation virtual surround technologies are often inaccurate given that every individual has a unique response to simulated sound stages - as such, virtual surround sound is often regarded as inferior to discrete surround sound set ups.

Using state-of-the-art technology, the surround sound algorithms powering Razer Surround creates an unbelievably accurate surround sound environment and allows gamers to calibrate positional sound to match their own unique preferences. This level of calibration allows Razer Surround to provide an incredible level of precision in-game, allowing gamers to have the unfair advantage.

Razer Surround is an advanced 7.1 virtual surround sound engine that immerses you deeper into the game. Traditional virtual surround solutions use a one-size-fits-all approach with algorithms built on averages of ear sizes and shapes attempting to create a generic virtual surround sound that is not personalized and optimized for each gamer.

Login at your local LAN-Café, at your friends place or at your next competition and experience the best possible surround sound based on your personally calibrated audio algorithms. Getting into the game has never been easier.

I just encountered this problem myself, going into the control panel then going to the properties of my razer headset (Kraken Ultimate), going to surround sound, then setting it to "Windows Sonic for Headphones" fixed the issue!

Well, kinda. Razer today announced the latest member of its software family: Razer Surround. Razer Surround is a state-of-the-art audio engine that provides 7.1 virtual surround sound with any stereo headphones. The current generation of virtual surround technology often provides inaccurate listening experiences because individuals perceive sound differently based on their distinct ear sizes and shapes. As such, virtual surround sound traditionally falls short compared to discrete surround sound setups.

With the patent-pending Razer Surround audio engine, users have the option to calibrate their personal surround sound settings through a series of listening tests to match their preferences, giving them far superior positional sound over traditional virtual solutions. Razer Surround gives gamers a truly individualized 7.1 surround sound and attuned 3D audio experience, allowing them to acoustically pinpoint exact locations of opponents in game, providing "the unfair advantage" in gameplay.

Razer Surround is available as a complementary software add-on, integrated within Razer's Synapse 2.0 application, offering virtual 7.1 surround sound and storing individual audio signatures in the cloud. These settings can be accessed anytime and will automatically update new systems to previous calibrated settings.

Razer Surround is a program that gives gamers the best virtual 7.1 channel surround sound experience with any stereo headphones. It creates an accurate surround sound environment and allows gamers to calibrate positional sound to match their own unique preferences.

But Razer insists that the infrared camera, which exists in the front-center of the speaker, is all in the name of next-level virtual surround sound. Using head-tracking AI, the soundbar can tell where the user is and create a virtual soundscape with the listener as the center point. The beamforming technology comes from Audioscenic, which discussed the feature as research at CES 2017 and demoed it at CES 2022. The tech allows the soundscape to change while it tracks you as you move.
