All Staff,
Earlier this week headlines across the State declared that 28% of schools in Arizona failed to meet federal standards or AYP (Annual Yearly Progress).
Not in Vail.
Everyone of our 15 schools (including both charters and both alternative schools) met AYP and the District as a whole met AYP!
Only a few other districts across the State can make that claim . . . and they are all much smaller than Vail. Vail is, by far, the largest district in the State with all its schools and the district itself meeting AYP.
Credit belongs to those who do the careful data analysis and strategic planning. Credit belongs to hard working teachers and principals who insure properly focused instruction is occurring.
As a practical matter, every one of you can claim a piece of the credit. This kind of broad success does not occur in schools that are disorganized, dirty, poorly maintained or utilizing haphazardly technology. People in every role contribute to an environment where success is expected and achieved.
Thank you for being amazing.
I so deeply appreciate being part of something that is doing good things so well.
